I visited Kauai, Hawaii in early 2008. Kauai is the northernmost island of the Hawaiian chain, and is noteworthy for containing the rainiest spot on earth (460 inches of rainfall per year). We visited the Nepali Coast on the west side, the beaches of the south side, and trails on the north, east, and west. We also visited Waimea Canyon, which is accessible from the southwest, but is deeper towards the center of the island. It's a tiny island so you can easily hit any side of the island in a day and be back for dinner.
